This is an artisanal product: imperfections make them all the more unique!
This beautiful piece was handcrafted by Nazila and her team of women artisan in the Old City of Kabul.
Nazila, a graduate of the Turquoise Mountain, established Goharshad to create sustainable employment for herself and other women artisan. Goharshad in Persian translates as “joyful jewel” or “shining jewel”.
Goharshad is influenced by the Kochi nomad tribe of Afghanistan. In her creations, you can see the tents of the Kochi tribe, reinterpreted using brass and lapis lazuli to produce a modern take on an ancient tradition.
