Meet the makers who graduated from from the Mayamiko Fashion Lab this year. In Lilongwe, Malawi, the workshop, run by Mayamiko Trust, helps to train a new group of inspirational women in tailoring each year, giving them a new opportunity to learn and find a new career. Some will have the chance to come work at Mayamiko, making our core collections and while many will go on to start up their own businesses. Completed over six months, they also took part in business and finance training and will take with them a sewing machine on graduation to help them at the next hurdle. Given the challenges we have all been thrown this last year, with uncertainty at work and home, we couldn't be prouder that this wonderful group of women made it through. They wear their graduation outfit made from a fabric and in a style of their choice. Well done Mayamikans!
We hope you're inspired by the women's joy and perseverance. If you wan't too see more about what the trust does and how you can help, see here!
Women's sizing at Mayamiko is in line with UK standard sizing. When in doubt or if in between sizes, we recommend going one size up, as the fabric is not stretchy and the fit is snug. You are also welcome to contact us for individual product queries, and we'll do our best to help!
